yep, Sarah Brightman. this and every sarah brightman post ever is dedicated to Scott. cuz he hates her. she looks great, at least.
Happy Holidays to you and yours - whatever it is you may celebrate.
I'm at my parents' house in Iowa and it's a balmy 7 degrees - watching TV with my dad - who is a huge sucker for schmaltzy weepy Christmas movies. the wool hat? Barf.
my brother Thom and his family will be here shortly for Christmas dinner.
I know I should feel all warm and fuzzy and family-like but instead I feel out of place and discombobulated. I don't like being away from my real home and life and friends for this long - and as an added torment, being away from Jeff - who I have seen almost every day for the last month - is really getting to me.
I'm back to Seattle Monday afternoon - I hope the mess of unwelcome snow and ice has cleared by then.
so, yeah - merry Christmas and all that.
there's this guy that I've had a crush on for most of 2008 and for the last few weeks we have been spending a lot of time together and so if I seem a little nicer, happier, giddier or something like that - he is the reason. his name is Jeff - he's awesome and he makes me smile.
Like all the time.
...and stop looking up my nose.
I have had a couple of really vivid dreams since arriving in MN. The first involved my trying not to freeze to death - it was kinda like the last scene from the shining as I was trapped outside in a snowing forest. I could "feel" snowflakes landing on my face and my fingers and toes starting to ache.
the second involved a very upsetting and not terribly far fetched situation and featured many of my friends - all dressed in black, as if attending a goth funeral - and it was so upsetting that I woke up in tears. very strange. it's a little close to home to share here, though.
see what happens when I'm off work and my brain starts to wander? what the hell?

Cthulhu is a fictional creature created by H. P. Lovecraft and meant as the embodiment of extreme horror or evil. allegedly, you would die from just gazing at the creature. I think it's cute and clearly other people do, too. I especially love the "Cthulhu for President" sticker. I love the cool little action figure that comes in 3 colours: I prefer the green, though. I will get my mitts on one someday...
Dream On : probably my favorite track off Robyn's 2008 album and a really odd video. she kinda looks like an alien with the white hair.
this is me dressed as Morrissey for a "rock band" party last Saturday night. I realized that I do not have enough hair to pull off Morrissey. nobody got it besides Consuelo, which was a given.
anyway, now I'm on a Morrissey kick. I've listened to 3 albums since I got home today : "vauxhall and I", "maladjusted" and "You are the quarry". he tends to have great singles and b-sides and a lot of filler on the albums. I was listening to random singles from one of his box sets in my car today and realized that b-side "jack the ripper" is his finest moment without a doubt. and that is besides the fact that bands like AFI and the ULTRA SHITTY My Chemical Romance have covered it.
- I just finished my year end self-appraisal for work. I put it off and put it off because I hate doing those things. Horror movie guy was over for like an hour and gave me a shoulder massage while I worked on said self appraisal. he read a bit of it and asked "why the fuck do you have to do this? doesn't your boss pay attention to what you do?" I didn't know how to answer that, so I just mumbled something about having to blow your own horn sometimes...which came off much less g-rated than I had intended.
- I'm drinking some sort of Pinot. it was in the fridge and sounded tastier than water.
- TanQ is sitting on the rug by the dishwasher. she's staring at the wall.
- Morrissey is singing something about cab drivers that never stop talking.
that is all.
oh, here's a nice live version of "Jack the Ripper"
I found this little guy on Consuelo's fireplace shelf just after Obama's acceptance speech. almost got a little choked up when he said "gay or straight". Even McCain's speech was good. gracious and classy. Sarah palin looked like she was about to cry but McCain looked almost relieved, as if realizing what a horror it would have been to have her in the white house.
I very happy Obama wiped the floor with the republicans but at the same time pretty much devastated by CA's prop 8 allegedly passing. I hope and pray it's bogged down by Endless Lawsuits and then the CA supreme court rules it unconstitutional. Again. those three other states I fully expected to pass such hateful shit amendments, but California? Disgusting. how many thousands of idiots in California decided Obama was winning so why bother voting?
clearly the last time she was fun.
...of our next V.P? I'm going to be so Embarrassed for this country if it is. As it is, I'm Embarrased FOR Republicans that they have to accept this white trash Hick as mcCain's running mate. Sad sad times.
and that's not to say I have any faith in the Voting Machine after the last 2 elections. Diebold is the devil. a Republican devil.
pics with Frankie, Ricky, Topher and What'sername.
met up with Frankie, Ricky and later Harriette at the 20th Anniversary Screening of "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark" at the King Kat Theater Sunday night. It was great to see it again on the big screen after 20 years and especially loved all the pops and clicks that come with watching an old 35m print of the film. After it was over, Peaches Christ came out and introduced Elvira - who came onstage to a thunderous applause. they both sat in white chairs and Peaches did a fun interview and Elvira was cute and funny and candid. She talked about making the movie, pee-wee Herman, mocked sarah palin and mentioned her opposition to Ca's Prop 8. there were some questions from the audience with she answered hilariously and then everyone got in line to get her autograph and such. there were probably a couple hundred people in line and I found Harriette a few people ahead of me. Frankie and Ricky decided they wanted to hurry over the closing party at a nearby hotel. Harry ran off to find cash to buy a pic for Elvira to autograph and then I was interviewed on camera for some sort of horror/goth/queer site by a guy named ghost because I had an elvira shirt on. [ I'm sure I sounded like a complete idiot.]
we finally got up to her ( btw,. Sylvia O'stayformnorew was running the merchandise desk in boy form - small world! ) and we got our stuff signed and pictures taken with her. I only vaguely remember what I said to her because I was shaking like a leaf. she was so nice. and Tiny! I read she's like 5'7 plus wig and heels and I think it's true. and seriously, no wrinkles. she must stay out of the sun at all times to have that skin. anyway, after that we went over to the pan pacific hotel for cocktails and mingling. Ran into Topher and Harriette went home. Actually had a blast. Elvira and Peaches eventually showed at the party. ran into lots of old friends and stayed til midnight. a marvelous time indeed.
cheers.
I would throw drinks at anyone who requested Beyonce and
knives at anyone who requested mariah or britney.
