Be Afraid!

honestly, I thought his music was pretty wretched (except for the song & video of "Thriller") but I actually felt bad for him as he plummeted further and further into freakishness. I think this is what being a celebrity does to some people. I can't imagine living under that kind of scrutiny and judgement every time you fuck up ( as most humans tend to do ). I hope his children aren't messed up for the rest of their lives by that same celebrity bullshit. Rest in peace, MJ.

Rest in peace, Farrah. You were always my favorite Angel : Cheryl Ladd, Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts were ridiculously pale in comparison. I will watch my VHS copy of "the Burning Bed" in your honor. ( and you know I totally have that doll )
I remmeber my brother had this poster on his bedroom wall in the 70's of her and you could totally see her nipples through her bathing suit and I recall thinking "ooo, she has fabulous hair" so I guess I knew way back then. Cheers to you, Farrah.

I know you are all waiting for me to pass judgement on her, so...
a friend said the other day that he must be the only one that doesn't understand how Lady GaGa got to radio. well, compared to most of the Shite that comprises of American top 40 I must admit she's pretty good. American radio is nothing but (c)rap, Jonas brothers, identical guitar bands and unspeakable shit like Britney and pariah.
So, Based on the excellent remixes I had heard of her first few singles I bought her album. Yack!!! the lyrics are fun and she has a decent voice but most of the production is generic radio flavored hip hop.
So I will stick with the remixes. Dave Aude does a batch of them (and he Rules!) as well as harry "choo choo" romero, moto blanco, robots to mars and a couple of guys called pet shop boys.
I must say that I have seen interviews with her and she seems interesting. She's kinda ridiculous and unusual looking and I dig that stupid people think she's a man. Also, she worships Andy Warhol & grace Jones so I have to give her credit for that.
the best song off of Hard Candy finally gets a video - though it's just clips from the hard candy tour. still fun, though.
headed to Tinkham for our first camping trip of 2009 a couple weekends ago with tommy, bree & ollie, darcy and clair. It was nice and low key. we had a great big private spot right next to the river. Not much happened really. we just ate & drank drank a lot and a creepy deliverance kinda guy came over and weirded us out on saturday night. sorry the pics are so dark - there's not a great deal of light out in those woods! ( and yes, that is a barbie wearing a kools pack in the fire.)

Well, because Internet explorer 8 SUCKS THE ASS OF THE UNIVERSE I can't even label these pics. half of them don't even show up and some are in different posts so I will try to label them at work tomorrow...

I walked into a cupboard door earlier and pretty much gave myself a concussion. and now I'm worried about my Carbon Footprint.
Consuelo should NOT watch this.
there is something to be said in praise of boredom.
Yes, I hate to be bored. It's not in my genetic makeup. I can't handle it.
But today, for the brief 8 minutes that I was bored - before 37 various shit storms exploded all over the fucking place - I gained a new respect for boredom.
I was not worried or stressed or upset about anything. and that is a fucking Miracle.
Is that speeding ticket I got this morning going to raise my insurance rates?
Is the BF secretly pissed off at me for judging sailor moon again? Is TanQ barfing at this very second? why haven't I received that confirmation email for my car insurance? what is that strange $1.90 charge on my debit card? why is the G.I.Joe movie going to suck ass? why does itunes suck every bit of available power from my Computer has when I'm importing songs? how much money am I gonna waste on merch at 4 concerts in a 30 day span? what is my electric bill going to look like now that I put in an air conditioner?
NOPE. none of that shit. for 8 full minutes.
seriously? I can't even wait for it to happen again.

V V Excited that they are coming but sad they are playing at the Moore, which is not suited for electronic thumpy music. Erasure sounded like absolute shite there and I'm not blaming Andy & Vince.
here is their latest video "did you see me coming". great song, not so great video.
OH, Get over yourself. Here's the single new track from Aqua's forthcoming greatest hits package. It's cute.
Royksopp featuring Robyn "the girl & the robot" - the video. SWEET!

watched Feast 2 & 3. the original is a classic. 2 is ridiculous. 3 is terrible.
that's really all i Can think of.
cheers. have a marvelous 3 day weekend and such.
I got nothing planned. Hopefully it will involve sun and Stoli.

so, I posted a while back about the new DM and PSB albums and how they both really needed to grow on me. Well, pet shop boys "yes" grew on me very suddenly. I have barely listened to "songs of the universe" in comparison. Below is the best track from "yes" ( and one of their career finest ) . There's A Richard X mix of it coming out on their next single - I can only imagine that it's Killer.

SO, I am totally digging Sienna Miller as the Baroness after seeing the pics and trailers. I'm more than a little concerned about how Cobra Commander looks, even though he's being played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt ( who I really like ).
Oh well, I'm sure they will completely screw it up. and honestly, who could be ever be pleased with a movie that they have been waiting for since 1982? Srsly.

Consuelo & Michael bought Jeff & I Tix to see Kylie in Oakland on sept 30th!
You may recall we flew to fucking Sydney to see in in 2005 right after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
So amazing! Can't even wait! Thanks, So much Consuelo!
30th September Fox Theater - Oakland, (San Francisco Bay Area) (SOLD OUT & 2ND DATE ADDED)
if you were wondering what the hell is up with me...
my computer has a big fat virus, you might say it's constipated. I have this huge windows update that is automaticly downloading and completely killing off my internet connection. Dell has been less than helpful. I may have fixed it today, though ( took my comp elsewhere to a place with a better wireless connection, thus this post )
happy thoughts, happy thoughts!
cheers.
a couple newish tracks:
Freemasons featuring Sophie Ellis Bextor "heartbreak make me a dancer"
Pet Shop Boys "Did You See me Coming"
Someone certainly made my day today. This fucking Rad Elvira statue that I had whined about wanting way back in like September showed up randomly at my office today, addressed to me with a simple printed note with the word "enjoy" 100 times on it. it's funny because I had ordered a different and completely lame in comparison Elvira model that I'm gonna paint so When I opened the huge box and saw her name on it, I was like "ohhh.." but then I saw what it was and kinda shrieked "oh my gawd". Strangely, No one will admit to getting it and sending it over for me. I interrogated Jeff and Andre immediately. I think I know who it is, though. Someone wonderful and amazing and ridiculously generous...we will refer to her as "She who must not be named."
Thank you from the bottom of my black little heart.
Her rather heavy 19 inch ass fits perfectly on the bottom shelf of my new display case - Coincidence?
PS - that's a cute little bat she's holding, btw.
Easily my Fave Song so far this year.
I'm pretty pissy today. I don't know if it's anything specific...but probably.
I have a stalker of the Cyber kind. they post shitty comments on this blog ( which I delete at every turn ) and send me ridiculous emails daily to gmail, yahoo and work email accounts about stuff I would blog and twitter about. They also hacked my gmail and sent a boatload of emails to a certain Canadian friend of mine that pretty much blew their identity out of the water. I have done all that I can as far as reporting this stuff but it has been stressing me out this week especially. I had Consuelo dismantle my twitter ( because she is the Goddess of all technology [for example she built this marvelous blog] which I so appreciate ) and I'm thinking of privatizing this blog.
If it's the person I am thinking of he cannot enter the US, So that's great. He's apparently quite savvy with the Hacking. the Canadian has dealt with this on and off over the last few years - some of which was just annoying and some downright horrifying. I'm so getting my locks changed.
Awesome mini doco from Uk Tv :
Part One:
Part Two:

mark's birthday present this year was tickets to the killers. I was only familiar with their various singles ( which I enjoyed ) but, as you know, I think guitars are universally an overdone and therefore completely worthless instrument and so I never bothered with anything other than their remixes. But Jeff is and Darcy are big fans so I bucked up and bought all 4 of their albums and studied up. there were really good songs and then ok songs and a few clunkers. I enjoyed their most recent album the most ( produced by madonna's producer Stuart price, Surprise! ) and was excited to hear it played live.
it was a marvelous show. I think Brandon sounds better live than on their albums ( he does some warbling - think Christina aguilera meets Elvis ) and that is rather impressive. they played all their hits and mostly upbeat tracks. they played everything I wanted them too, really. I was really impressed.
Absolutely NOT impressed with WAMU theater, however. first off, it's basically an airplane hanger. the sound was marginal. drinks were 9 bucks and up. they stopped serving midway through the show and then refused to let anyone that left the beer garden back in. Oh, and then closed all but one set of bathrooms after the show, so 10 thousand people could get in line for an hour. I heard one idiot security guard say the other bathrooms had already been cleaned because their employees had families to get home to. really? who gives a Fuck? all those people paid a minimum of 50 bucks per ticket to deal with this shit? the same thing happened when I saw Daft Punk there - but I assumed it was just an off evening. Nope - apparently that's how they run their business.
Hopefully, I hope I will never have to see a show at that venue again. Key arena, although the sound can be patchy, is a much better place to see concerts. with the Showbox at the market being the best venue I have ever been in.
cheers.

2 of my favorite bands released new albums this week, Pet Shop Boys ( Yes ) and Depeche Mode ( Songs of the Universe )- I will admit they are both Growers with Hideous lead singles, But I think the similarities between their covers and respective deluxe editions are kinda funny. I'm seeing depeche mode in August - I assume it will have grown on me by then.
OH MY GAWD THE SKY IS FALLING! AHHHH!

I'm sick. I have an evil cold.
I think most of the people in my life are fucking crazy, although it may just be the people I see and/or talk to on a daily basis that are the crazy ones.
My boyfriend is awesome. How did I end up with such a nice guy...that actually lives in seattle ( and not fucking Canada, thank you! No offense, Dre~ )
ummm...people that try to guilt me into things are dead to me. you may not be dead, but you're dead to me. how are you texting me from beyond the grave?
... that is all.

here's a pic of me with karie & jeremy from a couple years ago at JetSet in Minneapolis. How exciting.
I've had Connie Francis' "I'm gonna be warm this winter" stuck in my head all night. Trying to find a more irritating song has failed to loosen it's grasp and so I think you should listen to it and feel my pain! Suffer !
"the girl and the robot" from Röyksopp's new album "junior".
a lot of things are not going well. there's a ridiculous pile of crap I could bitch and whine and moan about. if you go back a few years on this blog you can see that I used to do exactly that, but I no longer see the point.
On the plus side, I have Jeff who never fails to put me in a better mood and help me put things in perspective. he is amazing and he completely overshadows the rest of that noise. Sadly, we work completely opposite schedules and our time together is short. So....not really a complaint but more of an FYI.
FYI - have I ever mentioned how much I loathe corporate speak? Just an FYI, what's on your plate? is that a "must do" or a "nice to do"? what are your challenges and opportunities? Honestly, I think more people should be stabbed in the head in the workplace.
I'm not sure what the point of this post is, really. I don't have a lot to say right now which is why I've just been posting pictures and random youtube videos.

I'd heard a lot of mixed reviews of Watchmen in the week before I managed to see it. awesome or terrible were the only answers. there is a lot to pay attention to, a lot of dialogue and with 2 hours and 45 minutes of those two - it looses a huge chunk of film goers. I must say that the director clearly worships the subject matter , because the movie is often a shot by shot adaptation of the comic. there are a couple changes - one that makes the ending more coherent - but it's all very faithful and completely on target.
Don't believe all the negative hype - This movie is awesome. Yes, it's long, yes, you have to pay attention, yes, there's about 2 minutes of a faint blue cock, yes, some of the fighting is in slow motion, yes, it's pretty violent, yes, there's sex. yes, yes, yes. I will totally see it again in the theater and buy the dvd...Watchmen is the best movie I have seen in ages.
