I Love It, Yes I Do
fuck fuck fuckity fuck. what's the big fuckin' deal, bitch?
Yesterday I went to a movie. I hadn't slept well the night before and had a couple bagels that morning. Suprise! My thyroid freaked out and my legs weren't working. I had to have a couple theater workers help me stand up and down the stairs. embarrassing. then it seemed like they were working enought to walk and I got the elevators and then fell down again, banging my head against the wall. People were staring, probably thinking I was drunk. a couple of gentlemen helped me stand up and then helped me walk back to work (2 blocks). They were very nice guys but I was so embarrassed. At Least I know there are still good people walking around Bellevue.
I fell again on the way back and ...embarassing. Got back to work and had Jody run to the store and get my drugs. I took a ton of potassium and within an hour or so I was walking again. Lame, frightening and annoying, I say. went to the doctor and there was much blood drawn, etc etc. no explanations, other than what I already know.
I have to laugh, though, otherwise I'd be a basket case.
this shouldn't still be happening. to be continued...
The first ever horror hostess, Maila Nurmi aka VAMPIRA, has passed away at age 86. you probably remember her from Ed Wood's "Plan 9 From outer Space" or even Tim Burton's "Ed Wood", as portrayed by Lisa Marie. The probable prototype for the likes of Carolyn Jones' Mortica Addams, Lily Munster and Elvira, She hosted horror movies on tv in the 50's and had one of the tiniest waists in showbiz. seriously. Clips below.
Rest in Peace, Maila and Long live Vampira!
The Opening of Her Show:
From "Plan 9 From Outer Space"
An ABC News Clip from 1999
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me?
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
So if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
So if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
So why don't we go
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Gi-Joe's "the Baroness" will be played by Sienna Miller. Sadly, I'm extremely underwhelmed. but I have been bowled over by bad casting before. Famke Jensen as Jean Grey comes to mind. Oh, wait. she's the only one.
Pardon my utimate geek moment. the baroness is the only action figure that has moved everytime i have. she's standing on the shelf in my media closet at this very moment. 8 different versions of her. so there.
it took me almost 2 hours to do the last 2 posts because my internet connection has gone crazy. My computer just about went out the window. the mouse is glad it's not wireless.
3 - Robyn Self titled - this is so far down on the list because it's a re-issue. it's 2 years old with a couple of new tracks. Sadly, I didn't hear any of it until september when I first heard "handle me" and "konichiwa bitches". WOW. how far she's come since her little US hit in 1997. She has a song with the knife and this entire album is electronic deliciousness. great videos and a slew of remixes, too.
stand outs are "crash and burn girl", "robot boy", "with every heartbeat" and the 2 above.
2 -under the blacklite - rilo kiley. you know I hate indi-rock, right? Consuelo introduced me to this album against my better judgement and I actually love it. Jenny Lewis has a marvellous smokey voice and there are some great pop songs here.
"dreamworld", "silver lining", "dejalo" and "smoke detector" are favorites. they were also phenomenal live.
1 - Hourglass by Dave Gahan. I haven't had this one long, thus the low placement. the depeche mode frontman's sophomore effort is a lovely, dark electronic piece of gorgeousness. possibly my favorite male singer of all time (take that, Morrissey!), there's little Dave could do that i don't like. Well, trying to overdose on drugs aside. favorites are "endless", "deeper & deeper", "kingdom" and "saw something".
#5 - it won't be soon before long - Maroon 5 - a band I would NEVER EVER EVER listen to until one day steve bought this at starbucks and slipped it in the car cd player. I was shocked to say the least. I love his whiney voice and this is the only kind of guitar pop I can stand: Dancey! odd then that The best track is the rather slow "I won't go home without you"
#4 - the light at the end of the world - Erasure
I'm giving this #4 based soley on the lead single "I could fall in love with you" which is easily one of erasure's finest moments. I was not really a fan of the rest of the album, sadly. Mizz Burns will disagree loudly. it's no "nightbird", it's not even an "erasure". so there.
3. X -Kylie
While no where near the quality of the many leaked tracks (including a couple produced by the likes of Mylo and the Scissor sisters), "X" contains some excellent kylie tracks like "wow", "in my arms" and the single "2 hearts". also, the b-side "king or queen" is a favorite.
2. Trip the light Fantastic - Sophie Ellis Bextor
Madamoiselle E. B returns with 3 fantastic singles and a slew of killer remixes. "catch you", "me & my imagination" and "today the sun's on us" are stellar, but it's the non-single "if i can't dance" that has recieved the most play in my car. Clap Clap.
1. Mantaray - Siouxsie
I have gushed about the return of Siouxsie to no end already. It took a few listens to get used to the new voice, but it eventually grabbed me. highpoints are "if it doesn't kill you", "heaven and alchemy" and "here comes that day".
