the original Black Christmas (1974) was directed by Bob Clark ( a christmas story ) and most likely served as the very first slasher film and detonated the genre. It was tense, errie, creepy and horrifying. and nearly bloodless. there was no explanation of who the killer was and everyone dies ( or so it is implied )and starred margo kidder, olivia hussey and andrea martin.
I sat and watched the 2006 remake even after be warned not to by several horror fan friends. the reviews were not very positive, either.
But, I'm sure you know by now I will NOT be told what to do, so i sat down friday night and watched it with pete.
the Remake plot n a nutshull, billy is born with a rare liver disease that turns his skin yellow. his mother rejects him. he later kills his parents and spends some quality time in the nuthouse.
the house where he grew up is now a sorority house and as you can guess, billy will be home for christmas.
I'll say it's faithful to the original in plot. loosely. Andrea martin returns as the house mother and various nubile girls run around as pscho fodder. some great gory kills and a mild twist ending that I figured out after 30 minutes. there's an extra hospitol scene that wasn't present in the first and the dvd had 3 alternate endings.
my one complaint is the the charachters are stupid. like crazy retarded stupid. and of course this always happens in horror movies but thwese people were just ridiculous. would you go under the porch late at night to flip the breaker? ALONE? when something weird is going on? would you get drunk and pass out with your door unlocked? would you go up into the attic when you know a killer is up there?
honestly, I expected to hate it and found it mildly ammusing. the killer creeps around in the walls and floor which is genuinely creepy. I was pleased that the killer had a back story this time, as well.
had this not been a remake of my favorite horror film of all time, I probably would have enjoyed it more.
3 out of 5 stars
my friends will disagree.
Pete and I saw Morrissey last night at the paramount. Great show and very different from when I last saw him in 93. he was witty, talkative and gracious. the 5 piece band was fantastic. he ripped through a tight set of old and new, plus a few smiths classics. He's fantastic. if you get the chance to see him, you must.

4. marilyn manson?
this movie came out in 2001 to very little fanfare. I love john carpenter( halloween, the fog, escape from new york )and looked forward to seeing it.
if you have any desire to see this film, stop reading because I don't want to ruin it fer ye.
fast forward to 2 months ago, i picked it up in a bargain bin at disc-go-round in roseville, MN.
i finally watched it tonight, and have come up with these comments:
Ice-T is awful and so is the blonde girl "heroine". Errr ... Make That Ice-Cube.
Jason Statham and Pam Grier ( the only 2 reasons to watch )are killed off. Luckily, pam's death ( beheading ) is off camera, but jason's comes very near the end and since he is basically the hero ( or so I thought ) his scene of being hacked to death by the marilyn manson zombie type creatures was rather disturbing. the 2 peoiple left at this pooint are retarded. there's no way anyone could like them and yet, there's still like 10 minutes of movie to suffer thru.
I was very thankful that I only spent like 4 bucks on this dvd, because if I had spent full price I probably would have chucked it out the window. OR tell my friends how great it was and make them suffer thru it!
too bad they couldn't be bothered to have Souxsie in the video.
Fab song, though.
We were really into this song last summer. I think it was played 20 times at my birthday party. have a little revisit.
( thanks for reminding me, Andy )
than you will never know the anger and frustration associated with buying the wrong cat food. I was in a hurry and grabbed the wrong box of cans. tanQ will not even touch cliced or cubed food. it has to be the loaf kind. I realized my mistake but tried to stay calm and thought "maybe she's so hungry she will actually eat it". but as I put the bowl down, she didn't move. she could see it was the sliced stuff and she looked at me like I was Scum of the earth. a short "meh" of disgust and she walked over the the cofee table, sat and looked laway from me.
disgusted.

weekend review
friday night, went to dinner with harriette. fed his non-friend's emmaciated pussies.
saturday worked at mall all day. stopped by bree's and met her pussy, who of course loved me. drunk people came over and we drank beer, or vodka and diet squirt. crazy drunk wrestling and Vogueing followed. called a cab but waited too long and then me and steve hopped in Cali's jeep and she dropped us off at Purr, where we drank some more and chatted with random people and then some old friends. walked up to the cuff, but there was a line and I was having a hard time standing up, so we hopped in a cab and went home.
Sunday lunch at la Cac. went to steves and cut his hair. spent three hours sucked into youtube.

Hank, my sister's 14 year old golden retriever, passed away today.
he was a sweet old man. 14 is crazy old for retreivers. he recognized me and whined and wagged his tail like crazy everytime I visited. Her other dog, Zoey and the cat, jazzy B - will be very sad. or Not. who knows what animals feel?
Rest in Peace, Hank buddy!
cutie!
looks like steve's cat, sydney.
this morning I had to take a "social styles" inventory for work. one questions perfect answer for me was "Highly Unemotional or Detached". My offcie mate concurred. Love it!
after finding Everclear on her iPod:
"I thought we were friends!"
on the other hand, I have some stuff that might make you cry in terror on my mp3 player.
UM found this piece of Awesomeness. Mark and I just about crapped ourselves.
Well, Mark did, actually.
Last night Bree & Cali stopped by and we were babbling and for some reason I mentioned Dr. Alex ( you best remember who that is ) and then I was all bummed.
I was still bummed this morning and when I got to work and put on my headphones and hit "random" on my Zen and what starts to play?
"sorry seems to be the hardest word" by Elton. I hit random again and the same song but by Mary J Blige.
maybe he knows I was thinking about him and he's saying hello?

In October of 1992, madonna released a metal covered book of naked pictures of herself and friends ( vanilla Ice, Isabella rosellini, naomi campbell, big daddy kane, etc ) and "Erotica", arguably her most perfect album to date. a banned video with the same title, in addition to the naked book, caused a huge backlash in the US.
obviously she survived. The book was actually quite tame to most of the peeps I know, but I guess that just makes us perverts, eh?
The Album was a step towards electronica and away from pop, although there are many perfect pop tracks on the album. it remains my favorite madonna album. so there.

my friend Mark is visiting this week and he's having a good time. although, he's rather Wild and Crazy, emphasis on WILD AND CRAZY and he's having a hard time dealing with what an OLD WOMAN I am. TanQ hates him. She's barfing non-stop since he arrived.
that is all for now.
it doesn't look too Terrible. possibly even scary. besides, the last 6 or so halloween films were pretty wretched. although, H20 was pretty fun.
